Description Jim Henderson 2013-01-19 23:39:47 UTC
The included VirtualBox packages with 12.3 Beta1 do not install a working Xorg display driver. The following error message is logged when the server tries to start:

(II) Loading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/vboxvideo_drv.so
(II) Module vboxvideo: vendor="Oracle Corporation"
        compiled for 10.12.0, module version = 1.0.1
(EE) module ABI major version (12) doesn't match the server's version (13)
(II) Unloading vboxvideo
(EE) Failed to load module "vboxvideo" (module requirement mismatch, 0)

To work around this issue, I did the following:

1. Remove virtualbox-guest-tools, virtualbox-guest-kmp-desktop, and virtualbox-guest-x11
2. Install the Guest tools using the guest tools ISO downloaded from the VirtualBox site.
3. Reboot the VM

In M2, this worked better, but was limited to 640x480 resolution - but the GUI did start and was also used for autoconfig. In Beta1, autoconfig runs in text mode only.
