Updated 12.2 with a working acrobat reader to 12.3 and got only squares instead of letters in acrobat reader.

As a workaround one can run pango-querymodules > '/etc/pango/pango.modules' in order to fix pango. Yet the user should not have to do that.

a Maintenance release has been prepared, accepted and is in the QA queue.
