Description Volker Kuhlmann 2013-11-01 02:29:25 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/534.34 (KHTML, like Gecko) konqueror/4.10.5 Safari/534.34

The graphical login screen offers the options "switch user", "remote login", "console login", "shutdown".
Selecting "remote login" makes the whole graphical login completely unusable and the only functional exits are reboot and shutdown. Keyboard input is permanently damaged and non-recoverable, so logins are not possible (can't enter password).

Also, XDMCP remote logins on LAN are completely non-functional, and have been so for all of openSUSE 12.x with the same bug. Someone made some "improvement" (I forget what it was supposed to do) and since then it's been dead. Initially, like oS12.1, making ANY input after selecting remote login mouse or keybaord) crashed the X server, then someone "fixed" the crash but might as well not have bothered.

Now that the "restart X server" option is gone, the only alternative is reboot.

Using computers as X11 terminals has been impossible since oS 12.1 including.

I have tried to fix the source before but was not successful.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot, or log out, so the graphical login is up.
2. Select "remote login".
3.
Actual Results:
GUI dies, reboot required. (btrl-alt-bs -bs should work too)

Expected Results:
Remote logins to other X11 servers using XDMCP is possible, like it used to be for all the life of X11 (and before).

Tested in virtualbox on oS 12.3, but the same bug exists on all real hardware I have installed X11 on.

This should be fixed meanwhile, no?
