Bugzilla – Bug 913058
GNU tar doesn't cooperate well with Amanda anymore
Last modified: 2017-06-14 06:37:05 UTC
Restoring files from Amanda via 'amrecover' doesn't work as expected anymore. When adding a directory to the extraction list only the directory itself gets extracted from the backup but *NOT* the files and directories below it. This affects only the recovery, the files still go into the backups and it is possible to extract everything manually, but that's quite cumbersome and makes 'amrecover' almost useless ... Details and a patch already available in the thread starting at http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-tar/2014-09/msg00006.html Would be nice to have the patch integrated.
Please try updated tar from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/pluskalm:/branches:/Base:/System/openSUSE_13.2/ and let me know if it works for you. Thanks
Submitted fixed packages to 13.2 and Factory.

Fix for this bug caused a regression: bug 918487.
(In reply to Vitezslav Cizek from comment #9) > Fix for this bug caused a regression: bug 918487. The patch was reverted until we have a working one. Reopening the bug.

(In reply to Vítězslav Čížek from comment #9) > Fix for this bug caused a regression: bug 918487. It seems that upstream doesn't consider this a regression but intended change in behavior instead [1]. In this case, we can restore the reverted patch and fix all packages that use the wrong option position. For now, we know about: - amanda (bug 913058) - dpkg (bug 919233) [1] http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-tar/2016-05/msg00010.html
(In reply to Kristyna Streitova from comment #13) > For now, we know about: > - amanda (bug 913058) > - dpkg (bug 919233) Sorry, amanda isn't affected. So dpkg (bug 919233) only.

Fixed.
