Bugzilla – Bug 936028
GDM user switching doesn't work when autologin is enabled
Last modified: 2015-10-07 14:47:51 UTC
when using GDM and autologin is enabled, it is impossible to switch users or log out and log in again. i have tested this only with GNOME3 desktop environment, but the problem seems to be in GDM. when I choose "switch user" from the logout menu, I expect GDM to show a list of users. Instead, a weirdly glitched "unlock session" dialog is displayed and it is impossible to do anything in it. When I log out, or press Ctrl+Alt+Bksp to kill the X session, I expect to see the login screen. Instead, I see console screen with results of some systemd tasks. The only way to get back to gui is to systemctl restart display-manager, at which point I'm autologged-in again. If I disable the autologin option in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager, everything works as expected. This seems to be vaguely related to Wayland: when autologin is not used, /usr/bin/Xwayland runs on tty7. When I use autologin, the wayland process is not present.
