Bugzilla – Bug 983669
After the latest updates x does not start
Last modified: 2016-06-08 14:19:26 UTC
I have the following list of packages ready for update: autoyast2-installation cheese findutils glibc glibc-32bit glibc-devel glibc-extra glibc-i18ndata glibc-locale glibc-locale-32bit icewm icewm-config-upstream icewm-default intel-gpu-tools libcheese8 libcheese-common libcheese-gtk25 libopencv3_1 libQt5WebKit5 libQt5WebKit5-imports libQt5WebKitWidgets5 libreoffice libreoffice-base libreoffice-base-drivers-mysql libreoffice-branding-upstream libreoffice-calc libreoffice-calc-extensions libreoffice-draw libreoffice-filters-optional libreoffice-gnome libreoffice-icon-theme-breeze libreoffice-icon-theme-galaxy libreoffice-icon-theme-hicontrast libreoffice-icon-theme-sifr libreoffice-icon-theme-tango libreoffice-impress libreofficekit libreoffice-l10n-en libreoffice-mailmerge libreoffice-math libreoffice-pyuno libreoffice-writer libreoffice-writer-extensions libsolv-tools libzip4 libzypp moka-icon-theme nscd openSUSE-release openSUSE-release-ftp pam-config python-solv rpm rpm-python ruby2.2-rubygem-fast_gettext ruby2.2-rubygem-gem2rpm sysconfig sysconfig-netconfig update-alternatives xf86-input-evdev xinit yast2-storage zsh After the update on restart x won't start, I am dumbbed in a console. I've reverted a couple of times using snapper and locked xinit and intel-gpu-tools updated the rest of the packages but with the same result. I run Thumbelweed on intel skylake wih Intel HD Graphics 520.
Please start Xserver manually via X -verbose 7 -logverbose 7 -retro It should faile. Then attach the created /var/log/Xorg.0.log to this bugreport.
I see this as well with the latest TW when I use gdm as displaymanager. I get many messages: /usr/lib/gdm/gdm-wayland-session[7435]: Unable to register display with display manager
