Description Forgotten User ocIEDbXBHK 2016-06-15 13:20:44 UTC
In Leap 42.1 there is a problem with AMD graphics and openGL 2.0.
The screen starts flashing and flickering from time to time.
The problem is occures every day for about 50% of the time working.

After changing the compositor under:

Configure Desktop -> Display and Monitor -> Compositor -> Rendering backend

from openGL 2.0 to 3.1 there is not any problem.

Is there any possibility to set this option in the autoyast file?

It seems that there are some problems with opengl 3.1 to ( flickering ).

The only working rendering backend seems to be XRender.

Confirmed on Leap 42.2 (Kernel 4.4.27-2-default, KDE Plasma 5.8.3, KDE Frameworks 5.26.0, Qt 5.6.1).

The screen sometimes starts flashing and flickering after closing a non-KDE program that uses openGL. While the non-KDE is active, there are no problems. Switching from openGL 2.0 to 3.1 and back solves the problem temporary.
This issue occurred after a new install (no upgrade) on a system that ran 13.2 without problems before.

This is automated batch bugzilla cleanup.

The openSUSE 42.2 changed to end-of-life (EOL [1]) status. As such
it is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any
further security or bug fix updates.
As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
openSUSE, or you can still observe it under openSUSE Leap 15.0, please
feel free to reopen this bug against that version (see the "Version"
component in the bug fields), or alternatively open
a new ticket.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed
during the lifetime of the release.
