Bugzilla – Bug 902495
VUL-0: CVE-2014-3694: pidgin: SSL/TLS plug-ins failed to check Basic Constraints
Last modified: 2015-01-09 13:10:30 UTC
CVE-2014-3694 It was reported that the SSL/TLS plug-ins failed to check that the Basic Constraints extension allowed intermediate certificates to act as Certificate Authorities (CAs). An attacker could use this flaw to create a fake certificate that Pidgin would trust, which could be used for man-in-the-middle attacks. This is the same situation as described in http://www.thoughtcrime.org/ie-ssl-chain.txt References: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1154908 http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2014-3694 http://www.debian.org/security/2014/dsa-3055 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2014-3694
