Description of Problem: Configure does not find/look for "ar" in
/usr/ccs/bin.  Running make will fail.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. ./configure
2. make

I believe the issues here are related to our Solaris 9 box having gcc
3.3 but using Sun's binutils equivalents.

This is not not a bug in mono.

This bug blocked bug(s) 55902 55910.
