I attached a patch to this bug report that fixes the following issues in 
mbas:

- To match vbc (and csc), also use current directory to resolve relative 
paths (for assemblies and modules)

- Ensure assembly is added to TypeManager if path separator characters 
are part of assembly name

Corrected in Mono.GetOptions.Useful.CommonCompilerOptions
