I hit this assertion with mono 1.1.8.3 on suse 9.3.  It happened during an
overnight test run of beagle.

The full assertion was:
** ERROR **: file handles.c: line 1635 (_wapi_handle_update_refs):
assertion failed: (file_handle->share_info != NULL)
aborting...

I ran into this as well today, on 1.1.8 (locally compiled with Remoting 
patch) on Fedora Core 2.

This is with my search index updater, which like Beagle uses Lucene. 
Might just be coincidence...
