Description Thomas Wiest 2007-09-15 19:34:42 UTC

---- Reported by sebastian.noack@gmail.com 2005-10-13 06:46:33 MST ----

Description of Problem:
I can't use the Web-Links in the menu "Help -> Web".

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Click on "Help" in the menu line at the top of the window.
2. Select "Web".
3. Click on any item or any item in the available submenus.

Actual Results:
I get following error message for e.g. if I select "Mono Project":
"Could not open the url http://www.mono-project.com"

Expected Results:
My preffered browser starts and go to the URL
"http://www.mono-project.com". If it is already started, it will be show
"http://www.mono-project.com" in a new tab.

Additional Information:
I don't use a desktop-envoirment like gnome or kde, wich have
configuration-files for the mime-types. Maybe that ist the reason for that
problem.

I was able to produce the same results on a fresh install of gentoo
linux. The problem was that a default url handler was not set in
gnome. I set one (Desktop->preferences->peferred applications: web
browser; firefox) and this fixed the problem.

It was currently set to epiphany which i did not have installed, are
you under the same circumstances?

It is not percisly the same issue, but very similar. The problem here
is ,that I don't have such a shit like a Desktop-Envoirment installed
and I don't to intend to do it.

In other applications I've the option to choose "Default-Gnome",
"Mozilla", "Firefox", etc. as browser, in the settings.
